Sly & Uma

Hello RAPS,

Just wanted to share some photos with you of our kitties sly and uma. They are doing really well. Both are very affectionate and very playful. They love cuddling in their basket by the fire.

Update on Aphrodite

Hi there,

I thought I would send you a quick update on Aphrodite! We adopted her at the beginning of January and when we got her home she began to explore right away! It took her a couple of days to eat, and I was a bit worried that she wouldn’t eat wet food at all at first (ha ha how things have changed!). She enjoys food VERY much now! Both wet and dry food. She has been the greatest cat and is so patient with the girls (age 4 and age 1). She gets a lot of love from them, playing tea party, dress-up, and playing baby – whether she wants it or not sometime! She loves to cuddle up with us a night on the couch and loves her nightly brushing :) We couldn’t have asked for a better cat for our family – not to mention she is beautiful!

Thank you!

A letter from Foster (Colby)‏

Hi everyone at RAPS,

I want you to know that I am very happy in my new home. My favourite part of the day is napping on my mom’s lap. I get to do it all the time. I like to go to the bathroom in the backyard and every time I do, mom and dad start cheering – kinda weird. I sometimes have accidents, but mom and dad say it’s okay – I’m just little.

I have lots of toys to chew on, but my favourite is still chewing mom. I think chewing her buttons on her pj’s are the best. I have lots of friends to play with – they look just like me and do the same as me – I just don’t know how to get them to come over. I bark and wag my tail and they do the same. Daddy says it’s called a mirror but I don’t know what he is talking about.

The only bad part so far is when I hit my head on the patio door. I was running into the house cuz the wind was scaring me and I hit my head. Now I sit on the mat and wait for mommy to open the door.

Yesterday I jumped onto the couch for the first time all by myself! I couldn’t do it before. I would always need mom or dad to help me up. Yesterday I did it three times. Mommy says I’m so smart. She laughs about the question on the application form about giving a command to get off the couch. Mommy says the real answer is “why would I tell the dog to get off the couch?”

When mom and dad are in the kitchen, I just lay down on the blue mat and wait for them. No one taught me; I just started doing it. I like to lie down beside mom’s legs when she does the dishes.

Daddy is fun to play with. I took his shoe and started running around the house. I think it’s funny. Mommy laughs and Daddy chases me.

I try really hard to be a big boy at night. I have my own big doggie bed on the floor beside mom and dad. I sleep in it at night. Daddy says he can’t believe I will sleep by myself all night.

Thanks for taking care of me and finding me a good home.

Happy the cat

Hi there!

I adopted a cat from RAPS about 2-3 years ago and I have attached photos of him. Thank you for continuing to take care of these lost and homeless animals, and I hope more and more of them find caring owners.

Bobby (previously known as Happy) has since adoption become part of the family, our other pets (a cat and a dog) have really taken him in. We have moved away from Richmond and are now in New Brunswick. (I volunteered at RAPS during 2009-2010)
